You can never have too much security right? We want all our phones to be as secure if not more secure than other brands offer by default and to do this we do have to lose some flexibility.
SRTP is a method of encrypting your voice data when you make a call, it works in the same way as TLS (mentioned here) and SSL by using a public key to encrypt your voice packets, send them to our PBX, and the PBX can then decrypt it using its private key.
This technology makes it harder for others to listen into what you are talking about, even if someone is snooping on your network like your ISP or anyone if you’re on a public network.
We have designed our handsets to use TLS/SRTP out of the box, and we have far more control over them to ensure that our clients are as secure as we can make them. At VoIP8 we try to go the extra mile in securing our clients data between their handset and our PBX.
