Announcing Our New VoIP Handsets

We are pleased to announce our new range of VoIP handsets that are specifically designed to work with our software.

They’ve been a while coming but they are finally here and we can announce them to the world. A couple of clients knew about them and have been waiting patiently for their arrival, I thank them for their discretion.

These new VoIP8 branded handsets allow us to bring true security to our VoIP Service, each handset will have Transport Layer Security (TLS) and Secure Real-time Transport Protocol (SRTP) available and enabled by default.

TLS ensures the login credentials are encrypted, so that eavesdroppers and hackers are less able to intercept the sensitive data being transmitted over the Internet to our server. TLS will be covered in a separate post on our blog, should anyone wish to know more.

Once you have securely logged in, our handsets ensure the calls are encrypted between themselves and our server. They do this using SRTP; which is an encryption method using public and private keys. This does result in a small loss of flexibility but ensures that your calls are more secure from eavesdroppers. SRTP will be covered in a separate post on our blog, should anyone wish to know more.

We believe that a minimal loss in flexibility is greatly outweighed by the added security. Nobody wants their data open to eavesdroppers, hackers or competitors in the highly competitive modern market.

On top of this our handsets are competitively priced against other brands units. So hopefully you are pleased to learn that you aren’t paying a premium for this enhanced security.

We have been using them while we develop them and we are very happy with the results. At VoIP8 we have many years experience of using the major brands and we think ours compare well against them.

However don’t take our word for it! Give them a go and see what you think for yourself?
